October Cloud Forecast

October comes in like fall temperatures with big tech antitrust investigations.

A MURKIER OUTLOOK FOR THIRD QUARTER OF 2021

Breaking news, our meteorologist, Oppenheimer, is here to predict and report on everything industry with cloud and communications! .
A murkier outlook for the third quarter of 2021: powerful secular demand drivers for Cloud intact, but near-term bookings could moderate after a very strong 12-month period and typical seasonal weakness. In addition, we can now say the quiet part aloud about inflation, as Fed states this week “transitory is a dirty word…price pressures…[and] the intense and widespread supply chain disruptions will not be brief.” Will vaccine requirements exacerbate pressures? This is behind our downgrade of EQIX, AMT, and CCI on 9/10. In such an environment, it’s all about the 3Ps: pricing power please, who has it? Our top picks for the quarter have differentiated technology or platforms that enable pricing power, benefit from secular growth, and sport relatively attractive valuations: 1) Digital Turbine, 2) Amdocs, 3) Digital Ocean, and 4) Microsoft.

Big Tech Antitrust Investigations

Regulators and government officials worldwide continue to closely scrutinize big  technology companies — i.e., “Big Tech” — amid potential anti-competitive concerns.

The central question: Have companies such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Alphabet’s Google, and Microsoft become too powerful or do they maintain anti-competitive practices in such markets as:

  • e-commerce;
  • app stores;
  • social media;
  • Internet search; and/or
  • cloud services

MIGRATE TO ELIMINATE YOUR END OF SUPPORT RISK

You can upgrade your Windows or Linux Operating Systems as part of your cloud migration journey. Don’t let change stand in your way.With End of Support for Windows Server 2008 now past its deadline and End of Support for Windows Server 2012 fast approaching , there will be no more security updates available from Microsoft. This puts your business, data, applications and infrastructure at risk. Transition from Windows Server 2003, 2008 or 2012 to Windows Server 2016 or 2019 as part of your cloud migration journey, from within your current cloud environment or from within your current data center.

Is mounting technical debt preventing you from unlocking cloud potential?

With eCloud’s unique OS Modernization capability we can help reduce technical debt as part of your move to any public or private cloud or on prem to on prem.

eCloud’s Multi-Cloud Migration Platform is quick to implement and will safely upgrade your source operating system versions throughout the migration. All of the modernization activity occurs on the target clone in isolation within the target cloud without any impact to the source. This mitigates the risk of performing OS Modernization directly on the source machine. You can validate applications for compatibility on the target clone while it’s isolated using security groups, network ACLs, firewall rules or isolated network segments.

It’s time to experience a better cloud!

WE ARE NOW MIGRATION ACCELERATION PROGRAM (MAP) ELIGIBLE

We are excited to announce we are AWS MAP (Migration Acceleration Program) eligible. Organizations migrating to AWS require expertise, tools, and alignment of business and IT strategy. Many businesses can accelerate their migration and time to results through partnering with eCloud while reducing migration costs.

The MAP program provides tools that reduce costs and automate and accelerate execution, tailored training approaches and content, expertise from eCloud Managed Solutions and AWS investment. eCloud uses the MAP three-phased framework (Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate and Modernize) to help organizations achieve your migration goals. Through eCloud, you can build strong AWS cloud foundations, accelerate and reduce risk, and offset the initial cost of migrations.

MAP provides lots of funding to offset your costs, but only too certified and eligible MAP partners such as eCloud.

CORRELATING SECURITY FINDINGS FOR BETTER SECURITY

You can use AWS Security Hub to provide a single view of all security-related findings, where you can set up alerting, automatic remediation, and ingestion into third-party incident management systems for specific findings.

Although Security Hub can ingest a vast number of integrations and findings, it cannot create correlation rules like a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool can. However, you can create such rules using EventBridge. It’s important to take a closer look when multiple AWS security services generate findings for a single resource, because this potentially indicates elevated risk. Depending on your environment, the initial number of findings in AWS Security Hub findings may be high, so you may need to prioritize which findings require immediate action. AWS Security Hub natively gives you the ability to filter findings by resource, account, and many other details. With the solution in this post, when one of these correlated sets of findings is detected, a new finding is created and pushed to AWS Security Hub by using the Security Hub BatchImportFindings API operation. You can then respond to these new security incident-oriented findings through ticketing, chat, or incident management systems.

Prerequisites

This solution requires that you have AWS Security Hub enabled in your AWS account. In addition to AWS Security Hub, the following services must be enabled and integrated to AWS Security Hub:
